you can also use this conversion factor 1 feet = 0.3048 meters (approximate) and multiply (8646 feet/second) by the conversion factor (0.3048 meters/1 ft). You'll notice the ft units cancel. In either event, you'll have to look up the data in a table unless you have it memorized.
