Celine has a bottle that contains 20% of milk and the rest water. The bottle has 1 liter of water. Part A: Write an equation in one variable that can be used to find the total number of liters of milk and water in the bottle. Define the variable used in the equation. (5 points) Part B: How many liters of milk are present in the bottle? Show your work.
if it has 20% milk, then what percent is water?
I don't know?
i don't believe you what is \(100\%-20\%\) ?
80%
right
80% of some number you do not know (lets call it \(x\)) is one liter. to find \(x\) put \[0.8x=1\]and solve for \(x\)
x=0.8 right because don't you divide by 0.8 on both sides
you do divide by \(.8\) on both sides, but you do not get \(x=0.8\) you get \[x=1\div 0.8\]
? why would u get that
what you said divide both sides by \(0.8\) \[0.8x=1\\ x=\frac{1}{0.8}\]
ok ;-)
