Why does spermatogenesis produce so many more gametes than oogenesis?

In spermatogenesis, cytokinesis is balanced, producing 4 equal-sized gametes, but in oogenesis, cytokinesis occurs off-center, so one of the 4 haploid cells is larger than the other three. Because it has more cytoplasm and more organelles, it has a better chance of surviving
