Will give medal. The graphs below show four functions: Which graph best shows the function f(x) = 5(2)-x to represent the rate at which a radioactive substance decays?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Graph A Graph B Graph C Graph D I think it's A, but I'm not sure.

@im.celibate

OpenStudy (bibby):

first f ind the x and y intercepts

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Some of the x intercepts aren't visible.

OpenStudy (bibby):

x-intercept set y to 0, y intercept set x to 0 f(x) = 5(2)-x y intercept: \(5(2)^{-0}=5*1=5\)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so would it be B?

OpenStudy (bibby):

we've got it narrowed down to either A or B because those are the ones that hit the y axis at 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but because the number in the parentheses is a whole number it would be B, right?

OpenStudy (bibby):

it'd be A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok, thanks!

OpenStudy (bibby):

the x is negative
