A wire is first bent into the shape of a rectangle with width 5cm and length 9cm . Then the wire is unbent and reshaped into a square. What is the length of a side of the square?

The perimeter is 2(5 cm + 9 cm) = 28 cm. Each of the four sides of the square has to be equal, so 28 cm / 4 = 7 cm per side.
