I'm going to uni next year for software engineering or computer science. What is the best uni in nsw.?

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

I am not familiar with the uni system in Australia, but I can give some tips based on how I would research it for the USA. Here there are accreditation systems. Some are very specific to what you are looking into, like ABET ( http://www.abet.org/accreditation/ ), that will make sure the program meets the needs of the industry and of continuing education. See, only about half of what you learn in a degree is for going out and doing the job. The other half is to make you ready for the next level of education or to broaden your foundations so you can work well with others. ABET does list the Sydney Accord http://www.abet.org/engineering-technology-mra-sydney-accord/ I did a little digging from there and found the Engineers Australia Website: www.engineersaustralia.org.au More importantly, they have an IEEE section: http://www.engineersaustralia.org.au/itee-college You want to look into the college they say teach the skill you will need. Once you have a short list of colleges, look into college review web sites. Find out from students what is being said. Take it with a grain of salt... most the complainers are people that don't get a good grade. However, you can find some important info from other students that will help you narrow down to just 2 or 3 that you are really interested in.

Oh, and I did a little more digging by searching for ieee college new south wales... (Yah, I did not even use capitol letters in google!) I probably should have searched for engineers australia accreditation new south wales, but it worked for finding an example: http://www.engineering.unsw.edu.au/professional-accreditation So, UNSW has all the industry backing that anyone could want. That is just one university in a quick search. Find a few more and you will have choices.
