Can someone message me? I need someone to explain why I got some math problems wrong..

sammixboo (sammixboo):

You can post your questions here =)

sammixboo (sammixboo):

And we can lead you to what you did wrong

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Plus it is always a bit easier for someone to help you on here instead of through PM :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How can you use an equation to make a prediction from a problem? I said you can keep multiplying to find a pattern, but that was wrong..

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Yeah I have that same problem @mayankdevnani Dx

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Do you think you know why your answer is wrong?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have no idea /:

Someone help ! :(

How can you use an equation to make a prediction from a problem? I said you can keep multiplying to find a pattern, but that was wrong.. I think mathematical modeling using equations is based off of patterns, but it's not necessarily based upon multiplication, or addition, or exponentiation, or some other simple operation. The idea is that you will have certain information from your problem. It'll probably be in the form of sample points, or known values at a particular location, and you'll have a general idea of how you want your model to behave (does it always increase as you go further out, is it linear, is it exponential, etc). From there, you construct a model, and you can either interpolate (guess between known data) or extrapolate (guess outside known data)... you can't really judge how close a model is to perfect, because you don't know what perfection is. You can judge how imperfect it is though... a lot of that is analyzing residuals.... you can find more info if you look up "regression" online

I could attempt to offer you a better (more specific) answer, but you'll have to provide me the context of what you're working on, such as what course you're taking, what the title of the unit of the class is, if there was any additional info, what you do'nt get, etc.

I still don't get it, & its Patterns, Equations & graphs

OpenStudy (inkyvoyd):

@mayankdevnani help I'm too sleepy to provide good answers

OpenStudy (mayankdevnani):

@inkyvoyd what can i do ??
