helen writes a novel and is paid royalties of $3.85 per book sold. How many books were sold in a month if she earned $6,453? if you could tell me how to work it out that would be good too, thanks. :)

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

3.85*(number of books) = 6453 so the (number of books) = 6453 divided by 3.85 = ?

thanks! and would you know how to work out: peter picks apples at an orchard and is paid $9.80 per 5kg bag that he fills. In one week he picked 420kg of apples. What was he paid for the week?

jigglypuff314 (jigglypuff314):

9.8 per 5kg bag 9.8 / 5 = 1.96 means 1.96 per 1kg then cost = 420 times 1.96 times 1 = ?

thanks again :)
