Can Somebody Check My Work Im Not Sure Im Correct ??! Please
Question?
Ok I wrote this Write a word problem describing the time it takes to complete an activity individually and with a friend. Three Ballerinas can learn there dance in 5 hours. An expert ballerina comes in and together with the three ballerinas they finish in 2.5 hours. How long does it take for the expert ballerina to learn her dance alone ?
o.o
What's your answer?
My answer is this x = Amount of dance moves one ballerina learn's in an hour y = Amount of dance moves an expert ballerina learn's in an hour 3 x 5 = 15x The amount of the whole routine. 3 x 2.5 = 7.5y Which is also the amount of the routine but with the expert ballerina. Now we write : 15x = 7.5x + 2.5y = y = 3x - Now T is the time it takes the expert ballerina to learn her routine. 15x = y*t = 15x = 3x*t = T = 5 So an expert ballerina takes up to 5 hours in order to learn her routine. Let alone the expert ballerina takes up to 5 hours which is what three ballerinas would take to completely learn the routine.
Looks good to me. @carolina4567
Yeah, that looks fine.
Really ? Omg Thanks I was worried
@phi
I think "learning dance moves" is not the kind of problem you want to do. Two dancers don't learn twice as fast as one dancer, and two dancers don't finish a dance twice as fast as one dancer. On the other hand, if two people were washing a car, or the dishes, or mowing the lawn, it should be clear that two people will be faster than just one person. The question mentions ***the time it takes to complete an activity individually and with a friend*** I would have only one person (you) and then two people (you and your friend) working on a simple chore. Folding the laundry or something like that. Can you try that ?
