OpenStudy (anonymous):

Julie has 6 yellow pencils, 8 blue pencils, 3 red pencils, and 5 green pencils in a box. If Julie randomly selects 1 pencil, what is the probability that she will select 1 blue pencil?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Add up the total number of pencils.

OpenStudy (imstuck):

How many pencils is that total?

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Yep Just add up 6 + 8 + 3 + 5 = ?

OpenStudy (imstuck):

Actually it won't be 1 out of the total, because it doesn't reduce that far...but that's the idea!

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Then you see how many of those are blue And that would be your numerator Then the total would be your denominator

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

And I meant to write something else, but it submitted far too early, I hit a wrong button cx
