A. It helps the plot but does not contribute to suspense.  

It just tells us there's a large island. It let's us know where the rest of the story might take place, but it doesn't tell us anything about the island.

It's a story where a man named Rainsford is marooned on an island. He meets this crazy dude named General Zaroff who loves hunting. He hunted just about everything on the island. Then he tries to hunt Rainsford. He gives Rainsford 3 days to survive. 

It's kinda like a dangerous game of hide-n-seek or the Hunger Games.
