The answer is 2. first find a common denominator, in this case its 32 (9*4,4*9) so know you have 8/36 x 9/36 which equals 72/36. divide 72 into 36 and you get 2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how is the answer 2? it has to be a fraction

It is 2 because that is the lowest term. when you multiply 8/36 & 9/36 your answer is 72/36 which is an IMPROPER FRACTION. so you have to make it into a whole or mixed number. You would see how many time you denominator would go into the numerator that would be you whole number and what you have left over is the numerator over the original denominator. SO you would see how many time 36 goes into 72 which is exactly 2 and non left over. so the answer is 2.

and if it has to be a fraction you can wright it like 2/1
