Maize could be dried and stored for use throughout the year. Maize could be used to make building materials and clothing. Maize grew well in Mesoamerica's different climates. Maize provided excellent nutrition.

Maize COULD NOT be used to make building materials and clothing.... I really hope no one wears a shirt made of corn nor is building any important building with corn.
