People say god is love.....why would he create Hell? With everlasting torment, doesn't sound too loving in my opinion...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hello, Mainstream theology says God gives love to whom He wants to, not once does it say in any scripture that God's love is unconditional. Otherwise the concept of justice would be non-existent. Everlasting torment is definitely not a loving concept, but again, God's love is not unconditional. Peace.

OpenStudy (kenljw):

But God's Love can be correctional, either given through Himself or Christ and there may be those uncorrectable, what God does with them is not my concern.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

God created hell for those who are non-believers. God is love, if he wasn't love then why would he die on the cross to save everyone from hell? He made a way to get to Heaven by sending his son Jesus Christ. He created hell for those who don't accept him. God is holy, why would he want sinners and non-believers in Heaven with him? That is why there is a hell.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Algorithmic - God's love is unconditional. Again, if it wasn't - why would he send his own son to die on the cross to save believers from hell ? He has unconditional love - you don't take the time to see what he has blessed you with .

OpenStudy (anonymous):

With your concept murder is fine! God's love is not unconditional, if hell exists.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Murder? God isn't responsible for others' actions. The way someone lives - determines weather they go to Heaven or Hell. I'm a Christian. I could tell a big change in my life when I got saved - I came from a pretty rough family. I could sense God's love around me after I was saved. Someone that doesn't believe in Christ has no reason in being in Heaven. No one is worthy of being in Heaven. We all fall short of our sins. John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in him shall no perish but have everlasting life." What that is saying is, God loves everyone. He loves the world so much that he sent his ONLY son to die and save those who accept him from eternal hell. Tell me this, those who commit murder, child molesters, rapist, those who don't believe - should they be in Heaven? If so, why? What have they done to deserve Heaven? What has any of us done to deserve Heaven? The only way to get to Heaven is by accepting Christ as your one and only savior. Those who don't confess with their mouth that Jesus is Lord, will be judged on judgement day.

You were also talking about Theology in another comment, can you honestly say that you believe in Theology? Theology is dead. Even some of the famous theologists' have confessed the exists of God. God isn't dead. He is returning soon. Be careful what you say and the actions that you make. This world is coming to a end, sad to say.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iQueen Theology is the study of the nature of God, you have to believe in God to be a theologian. (By the way, the word theologist is archaic not used anymore.) God's love cannot be unconditional otherwise this means no hell, because if God's love is unconditional He has to love everyone. Meaning no one goes to hell not even murders. (Ergo murder becomes justified if God's lobe is unconditional.)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you don't believe me - read Isiah and Revelation in the Bible. It talks about the end times of the world. What it says in the Bible, is whats' happening in the world today. Earthquakes, Terrorist, everything that is happening in the world today is in Bible where it talks about the ending of the world. Even the United States' presidents' name is in the Bible. Barack Obama's name is in the Bible wrote in Hebrew - talking about the end of the world. The Bible was wrote in 1,400 BC. Tell me how that happen? Did they just make something up and it was like a granted wish or something? No. Again, God loves is unconditional, God does love everyone. Again, if he didn't - why would he send his only son to die for everyone on the face of this Earth? I can reference a few Bible verses. 1 John 4:8 says "Anyone who does not love God, does not know God, because God is love." So that's saying, those like you who don't even know that he exists - they don't realize the love of God because they aren't saved. How can you love someone that you don't even know? God is God though, he can. If he couldn't, then what makes him God? There has to be a difference between man and God. Romans 5:8 quotes "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us." Why would he die for sinners if he didn't love them? 1 John 4:16 - "So, we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in them." Another verse, "The Lord appeared to him from far away. I have loved you with an everlasting love; therefore I have continued my faithfulness to you."

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Those Biblical verses is of God speaking to those who have repented from sin. When one says God's love is unconditional, this instates universal salvation. Meaning, Jews, Muslims, atheists, Hindus all will go to heaven because God loves them. This sounds not bad, however universal salvation means even murderers go to heaven. God sending down His supposed son means nothing when God was the first one to condemn us humans.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

You can't say that God's love isn't unconditional. I've been through it all, my past was a living hell. I was on the verge of committing suicide, that is when I met Christ. I felt his unconditional love inside my heart. I could feel his presence when it felt like no one else was there. After I got saved, I could see a major change in my life. Watch the movie "God's Not Dead." Then come back and try to debate this situation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not debating anything, also the movie in "God's Not Dead" does not support the idea of unconditional love. All you have used is circular logic, you have made not refutation of my points as to why unconventional love is not given. Meeting Jesus or Christ does not argue that God's love is unconditional. I am not saying God does not love, I am saying His love is not given to everyone, such as the murderers, the adulterers. You are saying He does give his love to them. Which is contrasted majorly by the Bible you supposedly adhere to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It takes love to save someone. If you saw a stranger in a burning house, would you put your life on the line to try to save that person from the house? I don't think anyone would. It would take someone brave and someone that actually loved that person to save them. That's the thing with Christ. He loved us so much, that he put his life on the line to save us from hell. He loves everyone. He has given us a way to get to Heaven, it's up to us to accept that. He loves everyone unconditionally. He blessed everyone and has a purpose for everyone's life. His love is so great - I can't truly explain it. He's died to save us from hell. Think of it as a gift, if I gave you a gift, it wouldn't become yours until you took the gift from me. Same with Christ. His unconditional love and salvation is the gift. God has made a path, it's up to the person to choose to love God or to deny him.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you understand what I'm saying?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So you believe everyone is going to heaven, this negates your concept of salvation. Also I would try to save that person, it is basic conscience. The thing is you do not understand when one says unconditional love, this means God loves, those who sin, those who murder, those who rape, those who say He does not exist, those of all things. You cannot have unconditional love with salvation together because they naturally contradict.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I don't believe everyone is going to Heaven. Those who don't accept him as their Savior, of course they aren't going to Heaven because they never accepted that gift of Salvation and love that Christ gave. Yes, God does love those who sin. Everyone sins. No man is different than another. It's in the Bible that Christ loves everyone. But because he loves them doesn't mean they won't be sent to hell. He loves everyone with unconditional love. If you had children and they did something wrong, would you punish them? Any parent that loved his children would correct them. The same with Christ, his children who don't accept him will have punishment which will be eternal hell.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you subscribe to the concept of unconditional love, the concept of eternal hell cannot exist. How can you not understand this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ecclesiastes 9:10 Whatever your hand finds to do, do with all your might, for there is no work nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom in the Grave, where you are going. But this says grave..not a place of torment

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Generally punishment imply corrections, this is why today's prisons are called correctional facilities. In the Old Testement it say's "spare the rod spoil the child", just as parents discipline their children so does God discipline his. How can anyone in this world expect to behave in a particular manner if their enviroment doesn't somehow teach it. There's one thing that women lib has taught me is you don't have to become a slave to the one you love. I love my Lords and not their slave, as Christ said "If you love me you'll follow my sayings", the same goes for the father God's.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hell DOES NOT EXSIST neither does heaven when you die u die period!

OpenStudy (kenljw):

Frankly the after life is not my concern and I don't think anyone can definitely say what it is or is not. My studies of scriptures tells me what to do not what my lords are supposed to do. My basic opinion is if you can't adapt and live appropriately in this world how can you expect to live in one after, that is if it exist.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well Heaven does exsist @Anon101 But only 144,000 will go at least thats what JWs believe..
