The distance from Phoenix to Los Angeles is 400 miles. A car traveled this distance in 6 hours and 40 minutes. What was the average speed of the car in miles per hour?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

distance = rate*time rate = (distance/time)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\frac{ 400miles }{ 6.67hours } = 60mi/h\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How would I write out the distance inorder to divide it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not understanding your question. distance = rate * time, so divide time from both sides will give you the rate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Oh okay.

Sorry I understand now. Thank you!
