Florence was a pretty scary place to live while Savonarola was in charge. He killed many people for very small crimes, and did not like artists. Leonardo thought that Savonarola was crazy, so he left the city. Michelangelo, on the other hand, liked Savonarola. He thought that the strict ruler would clean up the town and make people behave better.
