how is the nuclear envelope similiar to the plasma membrane?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are both made from the same material, chained phospholipid bilayers (in the case of nuclear envelope is composed of two layers whereas the cell membrane is one layer). They are also both semipermeable and will only allow certain substances to pass through.

Hope that helps and welcome to openstudy btw :)
