What is the simplest way to permanently get rid of an unwanted file?

hitting delete moves the file to the recycle bin

hitting shift + delete will get rid of the file; however, it will still be there (it just won't be in the file lookup table)

if you really want to delete this file, then you need to use a file shredder (there are lots of programs out there that do this). What a file shredder does is basically write over the file multiple times with junk data.

Delete button, then go to the trash bin and hit delete again.
