Help! What procedure can I use to investigate the M.P and B.P of ionic and covalent compounds? So far, I know that I have to use a thermocouple , place it in the substance to be tested, observe for boiling, look for bubbles/ fizzing and for melting, look for conventional flow. Basically, I don't understand this at all and I HAVE to include this because it's apart of the marking criteria. So, 1) What will be the completed procedure? 2) Why would those kind of changes (bubbling/ fizzing) appear?

have you look this up

I did but the procedures online did not include the thermocouple thermometer. But, I think I'll use a laboratory thermometer instead because the thermocouple that I have only has one junction.
