MEDAL!!!!!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A toy rocket was launched from the ground. The function f(x) = -16x2 + 192x shows the height of the rocket f(x), in feet, from the ground at time x seconds. What is the axis of symmetry of the graph of f(x), and what does it represent? x = 12; it takes 12 seconds to reach the maximum height and 12 seconds to fall back to the ground x = 12; it takes 12 seconds to reach the maximum height and 24 seconds to fall back to the ground x = 6; it takes 6 seconds to reach the maximum height and 6 seconds to fall back to the ground x = 6; it takes 6 seconds to reach the maximum height and 3 seconds to fall back to the ground

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@Elsa213 @Conqueror @iGreen

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i'm not sure what it is

OpenStudy (igreen):

Axis of symmetry is the x-value of the vertex of the parabola..get it?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Graph of \(f(x) = -16x^2 + 192x\): https://www.desmos.com/calculator/iozhowc8ov

Elsa213 (elsa213):

wut answer do u tink is correct?

OpenStudy (igreen):

What's the vertex there? @SouthernRebel101

OpenStudy (anonymous):

576?

OpenStudy (igreen):

No, that's the y-value, what's the other number?

Elsa213 (elsa213):

x=4takes 4 seconds to reach maximum height,4 seconds to fall back to the ground. ;p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i green when you get finished help me please

OpenStudy (igreen):

@Elsa213 You're not supposed to give answers..and that's not even a choice.

Elsa213 (elsa213):

;-;

OpenStudy (anonymous):

xD lol its for a different version of this question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so @iGreen you saying like where the x crosses the x axis?

OpenStudy (igreen):

Well, what's the other number besides 576? @SouthernRebel101

Elsa213 (elsa213):

k den ;-; dun tag meh.... im horrible @ dis garbage

OpenStudy (igreen):

Lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

??? lol 0 and 12?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

The Parabola STARTS at 0..then it goes to 12..that means it took 12 seconds to hit the ground.

OpenStudy (igreen):

But the vertex of the graph is (6, 576) Which means the axis of symmetry is gonna be x = 6. So it took 6 seconds to reach to the vertex, and 6 seconds to fall back down. So what's your answer gonna be? @SouthernRebel101

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SO, its A? :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait! wha? its 12 seconds to fall

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how come 6 then?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@iGreen

OpenStudy (igreen):

12 seconds total to fall.. 6 to go to its highest peak(which is half the distance) 6 to fall back down(which is the other half)

OpenStudy (igreen):

The answer isn't A..

OpenStudy (igreen):

I told you the axis of symmetry would be x = 6..that eliminates A and B.

Elsa213 (elsa213):

@SouthernRebel101 r u guessing?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C then? and no im not guessing

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am really trying to get this

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, C is it.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

THANK YOU SO MUCH!

OpenStudy (igreen):
