Being an American can mean different things to different people. The United States of America is a melting pot of cultures from all over the world. Being an American means you have the ability to control your own life and destiny. In other countries you are told what to do, here in America you are free. This is not without sacrifice however. Many brave men and woman have given their lives to sustain our freedom and to keep the American dream alive. From the Revolutionary war to the Invasion of Normandy and the war in Afghanistan people have payed the ultimate price to keep our country alive. Even in the darkest days the United States has been a beacon of hope and freedom to people all over the world. Being an American is more than just living in this country. It is sharing the values that we as Americans have. Being an American means you live among the best and brightest people in the world.
