HELP!!!!! ILL GIVE MEDAL What is the main purpose of mitosis? A. to copy the cell’s DNA B. to divide the cytoplasm C. to help the cell grow larger D. to separate sister chromatids

OpenStudy (anonymous):

D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks u think u can help me with some more???

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey u think u can help me @Destinymasha

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

I can try, sure (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:) thanks :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following must happen before the cell can go through mitosis? A. The cytoplasm must divide. B. The cell must copy its DNA. C. The spindle fibers must break down. D. The sister chromatids must separate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

one sec i need to reload the page :)

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Alright (: And before anything, what do you think the answer to this question is?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh C??? O_o uhh idk :(

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

I think the cell has to make a copy of the DNA =P

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh :( im no good at this :(

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

It's fine, haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have a few more think u can help??

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Absolutely.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which of the following is an example of cell division at work? A. A dog digests food. B. A plant dies. C. A tree grows taller. D. A muscle contracts.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think its a tree grow taller O_O

OpenStudy (anonymous):

C

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Okay- What is cell division? Just think about it for a moment and tell me what you think it is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it c ????????

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

No. Cell division is when the cell DIVIDES. Dividing means splitting into different parts. And in this case it would be the cell splitting into 2 (: Do you understand now or should I explain it a bit more? (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

if u can explain it more it would help :)

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Pardon me. You're right it is C =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:O i was WRIGHT!!!!!! :D :D :D

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Yes you were! Haha, good job (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have like 2 more left so

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Go ahead.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which of the following happens during prophase? A. The cell cytoplasm divides. B. The nuclear membrane breaks down. C. The chromatids attach to the spindle. D. The sister chromatids are pulled apart.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:D Thanks for the medal!

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Again- What do you think? And you're welcome (:

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can u explain to me like what it means or what Prophase is O_o im so bad at science to haha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

• Chromosomes become more coiled and can be viewed under a light microscope. • Each duplicated chromosome is seen as a pair of sister chromatids joined by the duplicated but unseparated centromere. • The nucleolus disappears during prophase. • In the cytoplasm, the mitotic spindle, consisting of microtubules and other proteins, forms between the two pairs of centrioles as they migrate to opposite poles of the cell. • The nuclear envelope disappears at the end of prophase. This signals the beginning of the substage called prometaphase.

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Alright (: Prophase is the time where the nuclear membrane and the nucleolus disappears and the chromosomes become coiled, or tightly wrapped up. It's actually the first step in cell division.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh so B @Destinymasha

OpenStudy (destinymasha):

Yes (:
