Although the media discusses social problems, it is not seen as part of any social problems itself.

Is it true or false?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

true

OpenStudy (anonymous):

False, I would think.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's false. The media solves some social problems, but it also creates other social problems. For example, think about commercials for cars, jewelry, and other things that we can buy, with money. These commercials usually show people who are smiling, and look satisfied. The commercials are also voiced by people who sound enthusiastic, and happy. They make us feel as though we should buy things, because we DESERVE them. We watch these commercials, and we're convinced that buying things will make us happy. Some people are even convinced that they MUST buy these things, in order to be happy. Two of our biggest social problems are OVERSPENDING, and ENTITLEMENT. Some people buy things on their credit cards, with money that they don't have. Some people spend money that they don't have, simply because they feel that they deserve to have expensive things. And these problems exist, in great part, because of the media.

False, because social media can cover controversies, while at the same time producing controversies itself.
