why work is scalar quentity,,,but work makes from two vector quentity..

OpenStudy (paxpolaris):

Work is the dot product of force with displacement ... dot product of 2 vectors is scalar

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

When using the the dot product, i.e \( \vec W=\vec F\cdot \vec D \), and any time you take the DOT product of two vectors, in the algebraic sense, you multiply the x components of both \(\vec F\) and \(\vec D\) and then add them together, resulting in a scalar (or numerical) quantity.
