Water is leaking out of a container. At 2:30 p.m., there are 36 pints of water in the container. At 4 p.m., there are 30 pints of water in the container. If the water continues leaking out of the container at the same rate, how much water will be in the container at 6:30 p.m.? 25 pints 28 pints 20 pints 40 pints
Rate: Every 1.5 hours, 6 pints are lost.
So lets analyze some important details first In 1hr and 30 mins, 6 pints of water are lost How much time is in between 4pm and 6:30pm? 2hrs and 30 mins right? So, 2hrs and 30 mins is 1 and 2/3 of the rate so, if its 6 per hour what is 6 times 1 and 2/3? Sorry it took so long to write btw cx
After you find the product, subtract that from the original amount, or 36, then you'll get your solution
A?
@camerondoherty
Sorry, I made a typo, I meant 30, since we are starting at 4pm... So it would be C since 6 times 2/3 is 10, and after subtracting that from 30 you get 20 c: I hope you're getting what im saying cx
Yeah. I see. :) I was a bit confused because 26 wasn't on there. That makes a lot more sense!!
