Hamas bought 8 gallon of brown paint to paint his kitchen and dining room.Unfortunately, when Hamas started painting, he thought the paint was too dark for his house,so he wanted to make it lighter. The store manager would not let Hamas return the paint but did inform him that if he used one forth of a gallon of white paint mixed with 2 gallon of brown paint he would get the shade of brown he desired. If Hamas decide to take this approach, how many gallon o f white paint would Hamas have to buy to lighten the 8 gallons of brown paint.

well 1/4 *4=1 so 1 gallon because 8 is divided by 2 because 2 brown gallons per 1/4 gallon of white. instead one one brown per 1/4 white ;)

thats it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

show me the work seprate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the ratio is 2 brown:1/4 white if there is 8 brown then you find how many times 2 goes into 8, which is 4. So now you have to make the ratio correct. So you multiply 1/4 by 4 which equals 1. So 8 brown:1 white. That shows you need 1 gallon of white for eight gallons of brown.
