i can help

OpenStudy (anonymous):

to find out the average of how many hours don reads, you need to look at his reading log. in 6 hours he read 108 pages which means he read 8 pages per hour ( 108/ 6) jacob reads 147 pages in 7 hours, so divide 147 by 7. thats 21 pages per hour jacob reads faster

OpenStudy (anonymous):

take don's 108 pages and divide it by 6 hours to get 18 pages/hr. and take jacob's 42 pages and divide it by 2 hours to get 21 pages/hr. therefore jacob reads faster.

OpenStudy (jdoe0001):

get the slopes for each set of values/coordinates keep in mind that slope = rate of change \(\bf \begin{array}{ccllll} &jacob's\ log \\\hline\\ x&y\\ \hline\\ {\color{red}{ 2}}&{\color{blue}{ 42}}\\ 3.5&73.5\\ {\color{red}{ 5}}&{\color{blue}{ 105}}\\ 7&147 \end{array} \\ \quad \\ \begin{array}{lllll} &x_1&y_1&x_2&y_2\\ &({\color{red}{ 2}}\quad ,&{\color{blue}{ 42}})\quad &({\color{red}{ 5}}\quad ,&{\color{blue}{ 105}}) \end{array} \\\quad \\ slope = {\color{green}{ m}}= \cfrac{rise}{run} \implies \cfrac{{\color{blue}{ y_2}}-{\color{blue}{ y_1}}}{{\color{red}{ x_2}}-{\color{red}{ x_1}}}\impliedby reading\ rate\) do the same for Don
