Actually @Abhisar made a user friendly lookup for OpenStudy users. But you still would need to know the username of the person you're looking for. http://webyab.hostoi.com/search.html Not sure about app, as I'm an android user.

There aren't chats there either
If you'd like to pm someone or peek into chat, you needa go on your browser
Theres only an iOS app for iDevices, mainy for iPhone
But you can only ask questions, etc.

What I do to find users is go to my profile, and look at the link. I see this link http://openstudy.com/users/sammixboo I take my username in that link, and I type another user's username, and then click enter. That is how I look for other people's profile's sometimes.
