How much work is done on a satellite in a circular orbit about Earth?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Work done is the product of an applied force that makes a body to move in the direction of the applied force (or its component). Since the only force acting on a satellite is the centripetal force, which is perpendicular to its motion, there is no work on it when orbitin the Earth.
