From a point A 10 cm from a plane P a perpendicular line AC is drawn passing through a circle with center C and radius of 8cm in the plane. At any point B on this circle, a tangent BD is drawn 18cm in lenght. find the distance from A to D

you need to find the distance of the center of circle to end of the tangent. AD is the hypotenuse of the right angled triangle ACD there is a circle tangent theorem which you can use to find CD which I'll have to check out.
