Which of the expressions are not polynomials? Check all that apply. A. 4 - 3x + 5x6 B. confirmed C. 5x2 + 4x + 1 D. 14x-7 E. 8x10 + 2x5 F. 2x + square root of X

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Any idea?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not sure if D. is a polynomial. im pretty sure that is a binomial

OpenStudy (anonymous):

and I don't think F. counts as a polynomial either

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

A monomial is a polynomial

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

NOT polynomials would be something like this: \(\huge\frac{1}{x}\) or \(\large \sqrt{x}\) Hopefully this helps you out:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought that a polynomial by definition must have more than 2 terms

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I got it it was B, D, and F

OpenStudy (yanasidlinskiy):

Again, all monomials are polynomials. a polynomial is the sum of one OR more monomials. it's weird, but you can technically sum one item. Yep! You got it:)
