x^2 <64 what is the solution to the inequality and how do you find it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Replace the less than sign with an equal sign and solve by taking the square root of both sides. The square root of x^2 is x. The square root of 64 is 8. So we know that for x^2=64, x=8 Now go back to the original inequality. We now know that for the inequality to be true, x can be any number as long as it is less than 8. So the answer is \[(-\infty,8)\]
