TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

To prevent spammers we can make a quiz or something of the Code of Conduct that they have to take to start using OS. Because people when they agree to any terms no one reads it. Because it is usually like 50 pages long and no one has time.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

But the Code of Conduct is not that long.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I was thinking of this idea for a while and then @Joel_the_boss brought it up (but in another post where this wouldn't be discussed). :)

OpenStudy (nightwielder):

The Code of Conduct is the shortest Terms of Agreement EVER.

OpenStudy (samanthagreer):

that is a good idea

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Also there should be a pool of questions so each time you get different questions so that a spammer, hacker or troller can't memorize the answers. And also you have to get them all right or like 80%. If you don't meet the requirement, they have to read the CoC again and retake the quiz. It should be like 10 question long or maybe even 5.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Thanks @samanthagreer @nightwielder

OpenStudy (samanthagreer):

and the is why your name is the smart one

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

That is an amazing idea. @TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@nightwielder The code of conduct is not that short.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Thanks :)

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Personally, I have thought the signup should include a short site tutorial and multiple check boces for key topics like language use and what questions are proper. The end result would be to slow down spammer signups as well as ensure that people know how to use the site. And by short, I mean perhaps 2 pages. One showing the ask a question and reply boxes, the other with a row of check boxes and the key rules.

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

^^

OpenStudy (nightwielder):

^^^^^^^^^^

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Email verification and a SmartScore plague for chat posts would also help.

OpenStudy (compassionate):

Plague? Oh goodness. That's supposed to say, "plateau."

sammixboo (sammixboo):

Oh my, Compass, but this is a pretty neat idea :)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

:)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks A Good Idea! :)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Thanks :)

Nnesha (nnesha):

that is really really like really good idea bec if here is someone like me they probably ignore to read 3 full page (its natural) :P

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Well, it is a common thing. But a quick summary of how to use the site on one page and one more with some check boxes for the key rules, one line each, one checkbox each. \(\square\) I know OpenStudy is a homework and tutoring site and I will not use it for quizzes, texts, or any other type of exam. \(\square\) I understand that the Open part of OpenStudy that anyone can view anything on ths site, so I will conduct myself as if I was in public. \(\square\) I will not try to use this as a dating site, post profane things, or be creepy. Things like that.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

That would be a better idea ^^

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

And then a disclaimer that says I agree to this and if I don't follow it I may be suspended or bannedfrom OS.

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

yah, another line for the rules and a final one for that. Probably all it would need.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

So now can I use OS? http://prntscr.com/5773px

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Maybe there should be a longer sign-up form that asks for more information like other websites Would prevent spammers a bit

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

@camerondoherty Like, "What is your favorite topic?" and "What dopics do you think you could help with most?" type things? So it stays in line with the site, but makes the process a little more involved. That sort of thing? \(\huge\unicode{x1F63C}\)

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

:)

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Yea, kind of When you register it should say some things like this: What are some things about yourself What subject(s) do you specialize at? (check all that apply) Chemistry Mathematics English Science Biology Writing History Music etc. What subject(s) do you usually need help or revision of? Chemistry Mathematics English Science Biology Writing History Music etc. First Name: Last Name: Email: Were you introduced to Openstudy by anybody? If so, please write their username below. School: Perfered Language: French English Hindu Spanish etc. Country: (List of all or most countries) http://openstudy.com/code-of-conduct http://openstudy.com/terms-and-conditions http://openstudy.com/privacy-policy 😼 I have read and agree to the Openstudy Code of Conduct, Terms and Conditions, and Privacy policy.

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Then, your name should automatically be applied to your profile, as well as your description, school, and perfered subjects

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Umm. Hindu is a religion.. but Hindi is a language xD

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

I meant that, I and U are right next to each other on the keyboard cx

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

:)

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

And I don't need you as a personal spell check! cx

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

:(

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Well I beat you in SS finally :) xD

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

I didn't even try lol

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Besides, my SmartScore "barely" goes up cx

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Oh yea I forgot about an option about adding a profile picture, and saying that it can be changed at anytime in the settings tab above your SmartScore. Also, after you apply you need to confirm your email address and after maybe there should be an introduction video to Openstudy to know how to use it and stuffz

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

So you are trying to be TheSmartScoreOne... \(\huge\unicode{x1F61B}\)

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Bahahaha cx

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

But, is my idea good? cx

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

*clicks* or nah

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

Now I can also use OpenStudy. http://prntscr.com/57gyiu

OpenStudy (confluxepic):

@TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

Should take longer to fill out the form, slows down spammers by a lot

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

\(\Large \square\) Nah \(\Large \square \normalsize\hspace{-1em}\checkmark\) Good

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

Someone stole my \(\LaTeX\) =P And I would have posted sooner, cept the browser crashed as I was typing.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

\(\Huge \square \Large\hspace{-1.5em}\checkmark ~~Good~idea\) \(\tiny \square\) Bad idea

OpenStudy (camerondoherty):

I wish I could add it to the suggestion box, but its far too long

OpenStudy (e.mccormick):

You could suggest they read this post and link this. Just note yours is down a bit.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):
