Question DOES NOT MAKE SENSE! I know the right answer but it isn't one of the options Help! Medal to best answer. Which of the following best accounts for the Puritans’ failure to develop their “city on a hill”? The restrictions placed on them in their charter The loss of their audience to the English Civil War The poverty and challenges with the land The threat of native attack The correct answer should be eventual prosperity and comfort but it isn't an option and I don't understand!

Why would eventual prosperity and comfort lead to their failure to develop it? Not saying you're wrong, just curious. Maybe explaining your reasoning will help you pick an answer. :)

OpenStudy (beccab003):

The reason why it is prosperity and comfort is because the Puritans had really strong, strict beliefs where you could barely do anything and because they became more relaxed and in comfort and prosperity their values eventually dropped which was why they failed because the were trying to create the model society. AKA 'light on a hill'
