The model of the atom evolved over time as scientific investigations uncovered new properties and observations about the atom. can you Describe the function of a model in scientific investigations.

OpenStudy (micahm):

answers.com says In scientific investigations the function (or job) of a model is to best represent the scientist's understanding of the particular 'thing' being investigated. It is meant to represent how they think something looks or is structured. A model will then change as they learn new things. For example, the atom model changed drastically with the invention of better testing methods/particle accelerators etc, and it will change again as our scientific knowledge advances.
