The twentieth century—and the 1960s in particular—saw a proliferation of independence movements among former European colonies in Africa and Asia. In what ways did these countries' struggles for independence mirror the American struggle for independence from Britain? How were they different?

The History section is basically dead. Last time I posted there, my question got answered 2 weeks after i posted it.

They wanted to control the destiny of their OWN country and of their own lives. The ones who invaded the countries used the native labour and economy for the benefit of their own nation.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They wanted independence is because everyone was so controlled by there government that you could barely breathe without breaking a law! Okay, its not that dramatic but you get the point. Sometimes you couldn't even own land, the government owned it but you lived on it. How annoying could that be?! The struggles? They both wanted to be able to choose there own government. They were being treated so unfairly. People wanted to change that.
