Help!!!!! What is the name of the segment inside the large triangle?
|dw:1416087967217:dw|
a.) perpendicular bisector b.) altitude c.) median d.) angle bisector
please help
@BrAnDoN_AAS would you maybe know how to answer this??
or maybe @bloofoffiction maybe you could help me??
I don't know any geometry. I'm sorry
oh okay thats fine :)
@Jhannybean @campbell_st @Nnesha can you help?
I would say a median... divides the side into 2 equal parts and goes the the vertex
I have no idea sorry all I know about that picture is that it is two connected triangles with a line going into each one. Sorry
okay thank you can you guys maybe help me some more i still have more questions :)
perhaps this site will help with your geometry understanding http://mathopenref.com/trianglemedians.html
a) perpendicular bisector : this would create 2 right triangles within the larger triangle, and would "split" the line segment into 2 equal portions. b) altitude : not sure c) median : possibly your best choice because you have 2 congruent line segments in your triangle, and it's not necessarily creating a 90 degree angle d) angle bisector: if you were given an angle in your triangle, this would "splice" that angle in half, but all you're given is 2 congruent sides.
