The table below represents the volume of a liquid sample as a function of its temperature:
Temp (C) Volume (ml)
x f(x)
11 95
16 100
21 105
26 110
The average rate of change of f(x) between x=11 to x=21 is _____ ml per C ((degrees)) and represents the rate of change of volume per degree rise in temperature
I keep getting 5 but im not sure please help :(

@ganeshie8
Nnesha (nnesha):
do you know what they mean by rate of change ???
OpenStudy (anonymous):
no
Nnesha (nnesha):
rate of change mean "slope" :)

Nnesha (nnesha):
11 95
21 105 use these two points to find rate of change
OpenStudy (anonymous):
@Nnesha i got -1.27
Nnesha (nnesha):
which formula you used
OpenStudy (anonymous):
y2-y1/x2-x1
Nnesha (nnesha):
yes so |dw:1416157797301:dw|
now solve

=(95-105)/(11-21)=(-10/-10)=1
OpenStudy (anonymous):
I got 1 so is 1 the answer?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
yea
Nnesha (nnesha):
yes that is your answer
Nnesha (nnesha):
but remember formula is \[m = y _{2} - y _{1} / x _{2} - x _{1}\]
so always you have to plug y2 value first
