Using the replacement set, find the solutions for the equation.
y = 0.5x + 10 Replacement Set: {(-2, 9.5), (0, 10),(3, 11.5),(4, 13)}

A.) {(-2, 9.5), (0, 10),(3, 11.5),(4, 13)}
B.) {(-2, 9.5), (0, 10),(3, 11.5)}
C.) {(0, 10),(3, 11.5),(4, 13)}
D.) { (0, 10),(3, 11.5)}

focus on the first point in that replacement set: (-2,9.5)

when x = -2, what is the value of y?

use y = 0.5x + 10

so y =9

so the point (-2,9) is on the graph and NOT (-2,9.5)

another way to see this is to do this


y = 0.5x + 10

9.5 = 0.5(-2) + 10 ... plug in the first point (-2,9.5)

9.5 = 9 ... this is false

so (-2,9.5) is NOT a solution to y = 0.5x + 10
