Basketball player sheila can make 90% of the free throws she attempts. What is the probability that sheila will make exactly 9 out of 20 free throws.

OpenStudy (jhannybean):

Posting multiple questions is being lazy.

OpenStudy (kropot72):

This can be solved by using the binomial distribution: \[\large P(9\ out\ of\ 20)=20C9\times0.9^{9}\times0.1^{11}=you\ can\ calculate\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well i had multiple questions i was stuck on and if you got a problem you can take it some where else i aint gonna stand for it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you please show me how?

OpenStudy (kropot72):

\[P(9\ out\ of\ 20)=\frac{20\times19\times18\times17\times16\times15\times14\times13\times12}{9\times8\times7\times6\times5\times4\times3\times2\times1} \times \large 0.9^{9}\times0.1^{11}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I did all tht n it gave me a big complicated number

OpenStudy (kropot72):

You should check your calculation again. If done properly, the result is a very, very small value of probability.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The result i keep getting its the same complicated number

OpenStudy (kropot72):

The correct result is a very small number, therefore your calculator probably puts it in this form: \[\large 6.51\times10^{-7}\] which can also be written as 0.000000651.
