Where in eukaryotic cells does protein synthesis take place?

Proteins are synthesized by ribosomes. Ribosomes sit in the membrane of the rough endoplasmatic reticulum (ER). The ER is basically a bunch of membranes connected to the nuclear membrane, that are found around the nucleus, but NOT inside the nucleus.
