1791, perhaps right to bear arms. As for today, I believe the 4th amendment is most important. Many people will go with freedom of speech, but I believe the 4th. The 4th amendment protects against unreasonable search and seizure, and must have a judicially sanctioned warrant. The first duty of the government is to protect the citizens, which is why the 4th amendment is at the top of my list.
