The suffixes -ic and -ous come from Latin. For ions that exist in two different oxidation states, the convention is for the higher oxidation state to end in - ic and the lower to end in -ous. With that in mind, you can eliminate three of the choices and are left with the correct answer. Let me know what you think is correct.
