The block resting on a horizontal surface has a mass of 100 kg. Determine the friction force if the applied load P is equal to (a) 150 N (b) 390 N and (c) 600 N. (fs = 0.4 and fk = 0.3)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you looking for frictional force .. it looks like you listed them? or are you looking for coefficient of friction mu?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm not exactly sure the answers are (a) 150 N (b) 390 N and (c) 294 N. I think I really need to know how much force can be applied before the box moves.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ff=(mu)(Fn) Friction force is equal to the mu times normal force and Fn is equal to mg which is the mass times acceleration due to gravity
