2/5 * 3 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.2

OpenStudy (noorik.):

Kira, which grade are you? We should know so we know how to help

OpenStudy (ahsome):

Equation: \[\frac{2}{5}(3x-8)\] Expand. This is done by multiplying each of the numbers inside by the outside number \[\frac{2}{5}(3x-8)\]\[=\frac{2}{5}\times3x+\frac{2}{5}\times-8\] Go from there

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am in 7th

OpenStudy (igreen):

Right that gives us 1.2x or 6/5x. 2/5 * -8 = ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3.2 i think

OpenStudy (igreen):

Yep, so that gives us -3.2 or -16/5. So our answer's gonna be 6/5x -16/5

OpenStudy (noorik.):

OK this is basic math, you should know how to deal with parenthesis like: 6(5+4) = either 6*5 + 6*4 or 6*9 but in case of variables it's different like: 3(7+x) , you need to multiply 7 by 3, and multiply x by 3 3(7+x) = 21 + 3x

OpenStudy (noorik.):

if you need any help to understand any math stuff, I can help because only solving problems for you won't help to understand

ty both @iGreen @NooriK.
