Which of the following statements are true about the function y = 3x? The function is a direct variation. The function goes through the origin. The constant of variation is . y is 6, when x is 2. I and II I and IV I, II, III, and IV I, II, and IV
i. the function is a direct variation ii. the function goes through the origin. iii. the constant of variation is 1/3. iv. y is 6, when x is 2.
Well, think about (iii). How can (iii) be true is you have \(y = \color{red}3x\)? Wouldnt the constant of variation then be \(3\)? :P So therefore (iii) is false.
