jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

Rule: if 'a' is any real number, then a^2 is always positive, a^4 is always positive, etc etc basically if you raise any real number to an even power, the result will be positive In general, a^n is positive where n is an even integer

use the verdical line test

gimme a medal hamlet

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

So this means 7a^4 is always positive taking the reciprocal of a positive number is still always positive so 1/(7a^4) is always positive

jimthompson5910 (jim_thompson5910):

negating a positive gives a negative therefore, \(\Large -\frac{1}{7a^4}\) is always negative for any value of 'a' (but 'a' can't be 0)
