Very radical. They overthrew the legitimate governmen, which is as radical as you can get. If they were conservative, they would have supported the existing government as the Loyalists did. It brought about a radical change in how the colonists were goverened - they threw out the King, set up a republic.

but it could be argued that nothing changed after overthrowing the British government. I agree that a new constitution/ or government structure was set up, but it wasn't that much different. The people fought to conserve their democratic ideals, hence they believed that they were violated of there RIGHTS OF ENGLISHMEN---which is somewhat a democratic idea. They were trying to protect it.
