The colonists had been asking Parliament to remove the French from North America for years and they always said no. The Brit.s and the French had numerous wars (6) all basically relating to the same thing. Lt.Col. Washington had been assigned to lead a group of men to the French owned Mississippi River and set up a community there. En route, they attacked a French owned fort. Per the usual response of the Brit.s of the day, they promptly gave the fort back with an apology that was not accepted by the French. They went to war.
