OpenStudy (cookielate):

a student has had a collection of baseball cards for several years. Suppose that B, the number of cards in the collection, can be described as a function of t, which is time in years since the collection was started.Explain what each of the following equations would tell us about the number of cards in the collection over time. 1. b=200+100t 2. B=100+200t 3. B=2000-100t 4. B=100-200t need help please !

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Are we missing a graph?

OpenStudy (cookielate):

This about Function Models

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

the first one...b = 200 + 100r... indicates that you started with 200 cards (the y-intercept), and then every year you add another 100. And b equals the total amount of cards for the given about of time (Note: don't know why it is r instead of t)

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

@TheSmartOne there are no graphs. You are supposed to explain what each function represents in correlation with the scenario given.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Oh that makes sense lol

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I know why is it r and not t lol

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

Just keep going along those lines @cookielate . And remember that "-" instead of "+" indicates a loss of cards instead of gain And why @TheSmartOne ?

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

I just stated what you said that why is it r when it says it is t...

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

oh @TheSmartOne . I thought you said "I know why..."

OpenStudy (cookielate):

Oops sorry i did a mistake they are all t sorrry

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

the importance of punctuation @TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

"I know, why is it r and not t?" @TheSmartOne

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

and ok @cookielate

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

lol

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Importance of grammar Lets eat Grandma! Lets eat, Grandma!

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

:)

OpenStudy (cookielate):

:) ok but i also need help on the other ones questions 2. and 3 and 4

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

I saw this ad once like that about Rachel Rae "I love cooking my dog and my family." vs I love cooking, my dog, and my family.

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

and also, Lets --> Let's @TheSmartOne

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

http://prntscr.com/57ts9g Wow glitchy

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

@cookielate just do the same thing i did with #1

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

lots of glitches on here...

OpenStudy (cookielate):

yes there i fixed it

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

2. B=100+200t Means he right now has 200 and will gain 200 each year.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

ok thanks

OpenStudy (studygurl14):

i think @TheSmartOne means has 100 right now and gains 200 each year...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

oops typo yeah lol

OpenStudy (cookielate):

thanks

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

@cookielate Figure out #3 and tell us.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

ok

OpenStudy (cookielate):

i think i well get it wrong though

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Its okay. Its all about learning :)

OpenStudy (cookielate):

i got 1900

OpenStudy (cookielate):

and thanks for saying that to me

OpenStudy (cookielate):

i got 1900 because i subtracted

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

There is no number answer...

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

It has to be along the lines of 100 right now and gains 200 each year...

OpenStudy (cookielate):

oh my bad :(

OpenStudy (cookielate):

for question 3. i think that is being less because it went to 2000 to 100

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Very close You start off with 2000 but each year you will loose or give away 100 cards.

OpenStudy (cookielate):

oh thank you

OpenStudy (cookielate):

ill try to do question 4 i hope i get it right :)

OpenStudy (cookielate):

for question 4 you start increasing 100 to 200

OpenStudy (cookielate):

Is that right ??

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

Umm. More like you already have 100 cards and your cards decrease bu 200 every year.

TheSmartOne (thesmartone):

by 200**

OpenStudy (cookielate):

oh ok i get it thank you very much for helping me and listening to me i really appreciate all you done to help me thank you you are a very nice person and cool keep being like that you rock! :)
